Fighting off a cold

It is the time of the year when our immune system can get run down. It can be the weather limiting exercise for many. Lack of sunshine and Vitamin D too. Often just plain eating and drinking too much "bad stuff" since Thanksgiving without moving much will do the trick. Here are a couple ideas that help me.

One - the biggest organ in our bodies is .....wait for it...our skin. When was the last time you got a good sweat on? I mean a 30-60 minute aerobic (mean with air/oxygenate your system) session where you really got a good sweat on? We build up toxins in our system and you need to get it out! When we get sick our lymph glands get swollen. It is easy to feel it. The lymph system does not have a propulsion system on its own. We must MOVE!.

Two - have you ever done a nasal rinse? I have been doing it for years for myself and my family with excellent results. This ancient practice is proven to help the common cold and sinus infection.
It flat works - not sure - go here to read just one study from the Dept of Family Medicine at the Univ of WI. There is a also a simple video showing how - http://www.fammed.wisc.edu/research/past-projects/nasal-irrigation - here is the conclusion.

Conclusion: We conclude from these studies, and from a review of the scientific literature, that nasal irrigation is an effective adjunctive therapy for chronic sinus symptoms.6 It may also be effective as adjunctive therapy for symptoms of other upper respiratory conditions that are risk factors for chronic sinus symptoms including acute upper respiratory infection (common cold), acute sinusitis, and allergic rhinitis.

It is EASY to do and very inexpensive. I will never forget when my daughter got sick last year and we rinsed for the first time. She was shocked at what came out.

Three - I agree with Linus Pauling. Does his name ring a bell. 2 Nobel prizes and maybe the top chemist in US history. Taking extra vitamin C makes sense to me. Dosage will depend on your size and how much your stomach can take or eat from fruits and vegetables.

Check out this story for NZ and a man who was very sick with swine flu - so sick they were going to stop life support. He was cured with vitamin C.

How about vitamin C fighting cancer and heart disease? Pauling was largely ridiculed for making these declarations, but today, large doses of Vitamin C are used by many practitioners for cancer patients in nutritional therapies, who believe Pauling was right and that vitamin C is indispensable to the body in its fight to regain health from cancer.

I hope you do what it takes to build your immune system and stay healthy.
